The VallyWag has brought to my attention yet another massive consumer data breach, this time it isn't a bank, or a retailer, this time it is an entire government at fault. I've written before about how as data is more concentrated and made more available via the web, the more likely these breaches will be, and the more massive. How massive this time, try 40 percent of the entire United Kingdom.
Check out the Valleywag Story:British government misplaces data on 40 percent of population:
Don't forget the original reason to be thankful: We're not Brits! Yay! And this week, our gratitude extends beyond straight teeth. The U.K. government has admitted that it lost computer disks containing detailed personal information on some 25 million citizens, or about 40 percent of the population. The disks, still unaccounted for, held bank account numbers, names and national insurance numbers, according to reports. The government also lost data included information on almost every child under the age of 16.Sphere: Related Content
