I've spent a lot of time writing about balance, how well you do as a Developer, Tester or DBA is directly related to how accurately you judge your situation, and determine the proper balance in your chosen career. How do you accurately determine your situation is, and then determine how to achieve the proper balance can be hard but there is help. In Lifehack.org's Pick Your Urgencies by Bob Walsh, Bob discusses how to limit the pressures that your coworker, friends, even yourself and make you feel powerless. He covers how to determine where the pressure is coming from, how to determine how urgent the pressure really is, and how to set your priorities to effectively achieve balance, and decrease stress. Balance is hard to achieve but knowing that you need to find it, and how is half the battle.
