The Best Developers are by nature Lazy!

Finally some advice I can identify with, in the article 10 Ways to Make Laziness Work for You, Leo Babauta makes some very interesting observations such as :

Often the smartest people are the laziest ones. They’re always looking for ways to get out of work, or do make something easier, and their creative ways of doing that have come up with some of the most ingenious, productive inventions: the computer, the microwave, the car, the Clapper, to name but a few.

I contend that the Best Developers/Testers/DBAs are intelligent and by nature LAZY. They are the ones that are always looking for and easier and quicker way of performing a task, and if a task has to be done more than once they look for a way to automate it so they won’t have to do it again.

If presented with a big task they will first procrastinate long enough to figure out they really have to do it (a lot of tasks given us will go away all by themselves, or they can be delegated to someone else if we wait long enough), and finally they try to figure how to break it into smaller pieces so that they don’t have to do the big task all at once.

They value their time as much as their money, and put a great deal of thought and education into how to use both as wisely as possible.

Take a look at the article 10 Ways to Make Laziness Work for You and see if you can and to your mental library of time saving routines.
